Reached airport quite early, actually 3 hours before 1:25am (Flight time), around 10:30pm. First thing was to get the ChangiWiFi and paid up.
Our flight would be in T4, a new terminal which I never stepped into before, time to explore.
As the time was still early, I started to feel hungry again, I chanced upon Heavenly Wang. After looking at the menu, decided on prata with chicken curry.
One of the best prata and the chicken curry, not sure it was my hunger or the food tasted damn good.
Time to board the plane and fly to Japan Kansai Airport.......
The transit in Hong Kong was lack buster as no shops were opened at the wee hours and we had to take a short nap at the gate area. Did not slept much thru the flight to Japan which might resulted in me feeling tired and sleepy and did not went around much on the first day.
Finally reached Kansai Airport and after going thru' custom, finally I landed in the land of the Pokemons.
Decided to have our first meal first at the airport as we would be travelling straight to Kyoto.
First meal at the Kansai Airport
Tickets for the Haruka rail to Kyoto.
The small office beside the ticketing system is the place to purchase ICOCA with HARUKA discounted bundle ticket of Y$3,600. Opted for the 1-way ticket option, more details.
Throughout the travel, Google map is the best ! It will show you what to take and which platform.
Route to our hotel, Daiwa Royal Hotel Grande, Kyoto
Toilet, best in Japan is the warm toilet seats everywhere, even in public toilets.
Super tired after reaching the hotel and decided just to explore the Kyoto Station area and look for our dinner place. Click this link, for more information of the food at the Cube in Kyoto Station.
We decided to go for the famous Katsukura: Tonkatsu.
Tips : The place, located at level 11, can be reached via Isetan lift (Look for Isetan, it would be at the front entrance area). We spent some time wondering how to get to level 11 cause there were no lifts located around the station. The other way is to go up via escalators. On the way up, you can see a very beautiful neon light-up staircase that changes from time to time.
There are 3 type of weight for the meat, as we were not sure how much was enough, we opted for the medium. Actually for lady, the small one should be enough as my wife could not really finished all. The rice, miso soup and cabbage all can be refilled with no additional charges. Oh yeah, the miso soup in Japan tasted so wonderful compared to Singapore's miso soup. Plus all got stuffs in the soup.
Note: After this meal, my sore throat started and lasted throughout my trip in Japan......
Seasme seeds to be grounded for the sauces below.
3 type of sauces.
My wife set, the more expensive one
My set
Managed to vist their supermarket, tempting, in the end we bought some cheaper strawberries.
